Finally...The Girls Are Talking!

I just received the best news ever. I have been given the chance, or rather the opportunity, to reach out to women across the world and form a unity --- of sorts --- through the written word. My name is Angel and I am the new marketing director for a huge publication. Who I work for is of little importance. What I’m attempting to do is of EXTREME importance. Two months ago I sat in a staff meeting looking around at all the women in my office. There are six of us that carry big name jobs. I looked at the five other women I worked with and noticed that we don’t connect in any way. We’re separated by cliques, competition, vanity and the need to be the top dog. The ten men in the executive suites are the best of friends, often running out after work to have drinks and play a round of golf on Saturday’s. But not us women…no we hate each other, hate on each other and hate to even be around each other.
I couldn’t figure out how this had happened to us – but I knew that I needed to do something. So, I came up with a little social experiment, that some of my friends seemingly thought would be impossible – creating a talk-bubble for women to show that we can and do get along. I, however, believe in the impossible. I mean Thelma and Louise did it. So, it can’t be completely impossible for women to work together. I’m determined to cut those stereotypical images of women and the cliques and give back to all women some of that “girl power” that used to exist in high school when you and your friends were ready to pound on the first girl who tried to steal your man, your clothes or your style. You know that power that was hot and heavy in the 90s and then fell away like a distant memory as the new millennium rolled in. Now instead of smacking a home wrecker in the face for stealing your man…it’s often your best girlfriend who is the home wrecker and you walk away in such shock that smacking a bitch is the furthest thing from your mind.

This website is my newest project. Here you will me and four of my friends who I have solicited to share their lives, struggles, insecurities, dreams and their problems to the world. I’m hoping that through them there will be room for some self adjustment and maybe the ticket to help another soul in the world that is going through the same dilemma. Through this website you will meet Paris (my single mother friend), Mateo (the man that keeps my life together), Kaitlin (the free spirit) and Alexandria (the married renaissance woman). My four friends would only agree to the blog if I too chose to write and that we would be allowed to write as freely as possible and under a pseudonym (to protect the guilty). I figured it would only be fair. We invite you to share with us your views and give us advice. Leave the hate and judgements at home. Let’s show the world that as women we can stick together and help each other grow and be better. This site is just as much about us as it is you. After all we women have to stick together. This is our site to bring a little girl power back (and hey no body knows girl power better than the gays – as Mateo would say). So join us every day, bring your friends and know that the girl’s are talking.
